Senior Electrical Engineer National MEP Design Firm Boston
- Execute electrical designs in accordance with the Electrical Department’s Procedures and Standards and specific client standards where applicable.
- Works in conjunction with Managing Principal, Project Managers and Electrical Team Leader plan the work and balance deliverables with budgets.
- Maintains understanding of project schedule, status and technical issues. Review all designs issued prior to client submission with supervisor and Department Head.
- Able to lead technical team and deliver design for various clients. Provide support to assigned staff on technical and administrative issues.
- Maintains strong understanding of all associated Codes and Standards and ensure compliance in all Team activities.
- Continuously improves the Team’s deliverable quality, communications, attitude and efficiency.
- Will be responsible for the design of power distribution, lighting, emergency and standby power supply in accordance to all applicable NEC codes and standards.
- Develop and evaluate best engineering solutions for projects, including commercial, mission critical, healthcare, science, technology, government and specialty markets
- Works as part of project team in the production of engineering solutions for large scale and complex building projects, corroborates/coordinates with other design team members including architect, mechanical or structural engineers to ensure electrical systems are integrated with the project’s goals
- Manage budgets and scope of work
- Perform Construction Administration tasks such as field visits and subsequent issuance of field reports, responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
- Perform studies associated with conceptual designs which may require site surveys of existing conditions, system sizing and definition of required space for anticipated electrical equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned.

PE Electrical Group Leader/Power and Substations Boston, MA
Electrical Group Leader - Power and Substations, you will be leading our team designing unique power generation projects, including combined heat and power, renewables, grid storage, and large district energy thermal generation systems and utility substations. This position also works closely with our Transmission & Distribution Group. We are looking for an experienced and energetic leader who enjoys guiding the technical and financial performance of the group and working in a team environment .
SOME OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES- Manage technical direction and workload for our team of electrical engineers and designers located in multiple locations across the US by reviewing project technical requirements, holding weekly meetings, evaluating workloads, and approving timecards.
- Respond to Requests for Proposals from clients and other company groups and offices. Take lead responsibility for developing scope of work, labor effort, and cost for client provided RFPs.
- Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance tasks for large projects and assist project leads with unique situations and demands.
- Create, review, and seal as required electrical designs for different phases of projects including schematic design, design development, and construction documents in accordance with the Electrical Department’s procedures and standards and specific client standards, where applicable.
- Manage utilization of Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD-3D, and Substation Design Suite to model electrical system components and systems in accordance with the Department and client’s procedures and standards.
- Be knowledgeable of and manage utilization of electrical power programs such as ETAP, SKM, CYME, CDEGS, and AGI32 lighting software.
- Strong understanding of laying out switchyards through 500kV, electrical gear and spaces, sizing branch circuits, laying out devices, lighting layout, and circuitry, including lighting controls, in accordance with the Energy Codes.
- Knowledgeable of associated Codes and Standards, including the ANSI/IEEE, NESC, IBC, IECC, and the NEC.
- Project Management, including Construction Administration activities such as management of submittal reviews, RFI responses, and Shop Drawing reviews.
- Extensive understanding of electrical construction procedures and systems/materials used in constructing electrical systems and components.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills to support team coordination activities.
- Conduct annual reviews for employees and implement performance improvement plans for employees performing below expectations.
- Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Mentorship to younger personnel.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems preferred. Professional Registration required.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience designing and managing electrical systems in the Substation and Power Industry. Strong understanding of the ANSI/IEEE, NESC, NEC, IBC, and IECC.
- The preferred candidate will have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, problem- solving, and analytical skills.
- Fluency in Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
