We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced International Tax Director/Partner to work in the International Tax Group. This role focuses on managing complex inbound tax matters, providing strategic guidance to multinational organizations and individuals, and ensuring compliance with US and international tax laws. Tax compliance experience is a strong plus, as the position requires both technical expertise and practical application of tax rules to support our clients effectively.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Develop and implement effective tax strategies for foreign entities with U.S. operations and with individuals.

Provide guidance on structuring inbound investments, cross-border transactions, and tax-efficient supply chains.

Advise on tax treaties, withholding taxes, and permanent establishment issues.

Oversee U.S. federal and state tax compliance for inbound entities and individuals.

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of Forms 1120-F, 5472, and related international forms.

Coordinate with internal and external teams to manage reporting requirements under FATCA and CRS.

Assess tax risks and opportunities associated with inbound investments and expansions.

Provide recommendations to minimize tax liabilities while maintaining compliance.

Stay updated on changes in U.S. and international tax laws to advise clients on potential impacts.

Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.

Lead discussions with foreign clients on their U.S. tax obligations and planning strategies.

Collaborate with global teams to provide seamless tax solutions.

Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering growth and expertise in inbound international tax matters.

Act as a subject matter expert to rest of Anchin’s tax department on all international tax related issues.

Lead marketing and networking efforts to attract new clients and expand existing relationships.

Represent the firm at industry events and conferences.

Manage risk exposure through thorough review and documentation of tax positions.

Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client matters with discretion.

Provide training and resources to enhance the team’s technical capabilities.

Drive efficiency and innovation in tax compliance processes.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA, JD, or Master’s in Taxation preferred.

Experience:

10+ years of experience in international tax, with a focus on inbound tax matters.

Strong knowledge of U.S. international tax laws.

Experience with tax compliance and reporting for inbound entities and individuals.

Proficiency in tax research software (e.g., CCH, RIA), tax preparation tools.

Global Close & Financial Reporting

• Lead general ledger close processes for the monthly, quarterly, and annual close

• Prepare / review journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analyses

• Draft technical accounting whitepapers to support the basis for unique transactions including M&A,

special contracts and transactions, etc

• Support quarterly and annual financial reporting and disclosure processes for SEC filings

• Primary liaison to the external auditors and internal SOX audits

• Oversee global revenue recognition processes in compliance with ASC 606, including multiple

performance obligations, variable consideration, rebates, credits, rights of return, and distributor

arrangements.

• Review customer contracts and amendments in partnership with Sales and Legal to assess accounting

implications and provide business partners with optimization advice.

• Ensure accurate revenue cut-off, deferred revenue, and contract asset/liability accounting across regions.

• Maintain revenue recognition policies, procedures, and supporting documentation.

• Oversee worldwide cost accounting activities, including wafer fabrication, assembly and test, foundry

costs, logistics, royalties, and manufacturing overhead

• Ensure accurate standard costing, variance analysis, and margin reporting.

• Review and support inventory valuation, excess and obsolete (E&O) reserves, and lower-of-cost-or-netrealizable-value (LCNRV) assessments.

• Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to understand cost drivers and improve forecast accuracy.

System Management

• Lead worldwide Oracle instance and other related business information systems

• Lead automation projects and consider AI tools to improve process efficiencies

Team Leadership

• Manage and mentor accounting staff in the US and abroad

• Establish clear goals, training, and development plans to support a high-performing global team.

 

WORK REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

• 8+ years of audit and accounting experience, including minimum 5 years in public accounting

(financial audit under US GAAP)

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting, including ASC 606 revenue recognition and

inventory/cost accounting

• CPA a plus

• Hands-on Oracle experience preferred

• Experience supporting a global close process in a public company preferred

Revenue Recognition • Oversee revenue accounting and ensure compliance with ASC 606, including complex customer contracts, variable consideration, rebates, and rights of return. • Partner closely with Sales, Legal, and Operations to review and approve customer contracts for accounting implications. • Maintain revenue recognition policies, procedures, and documentation. Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) & Inventory Accounting • Oversee accounting for COGS, including wafer fabrication, assembly and test, foundry costs, logistics, and manufacturing variances. • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to improve cost visibility and margin analysis. Accounts Receivable & Credit • Oversee accounts receivable, billing, cash application, credit policies, and collections. • Monitor customer credit risk, reserves for doubtful accounts, and days sales outstanding (DSO). Stock-Based Compensation & Equity Accounting • Oversee accounting and reporting for stock-based compensation under ASC 718. • Partner with Legal and HR on equity plan administration, option grants, ESPPs, and modifications. • Ensure accurate valuation, expense recognition, disclosures, and reconciliation of equity accounts. Technical Accounting & Policy Development • Research and implement accounting guidance for new or complex transactions (e.g., revenue arrangements, business combinations, debt, leases, equity transactions). • Maintain the company’s accounting policies and procedures documentation. Cross-Functional & Strategic Support • Partner with FP&A on forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis. • Provide financial insight and guidance to executive leadership. WORK REQUIREMENTS Required • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. • CPA required. • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles. • Experience in a public company. • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance. • Hands-on experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition and inventory/COGS accounting. Preferred • Prior experience in the semiconductor, hardware, or manufacturing industry. • Big Four public accounting background. • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite).
